CGIProxy is a script that acts as a HTTP or FTP proxy. It was created to help people over come censorship of information and to surf anonymously online. By installing it on a server, it can access any resource from another server. This can be usefull if you cannot access the resource directly becuase access to that server is blocked. Also in addition to that it also keeps you anonymous from the server it connects to. As you will appear coming from the IP address of the server its installed on. The most common use is that its installed on a pubically accessible server such as Vtunnel.com.

How it works.

When a website is requested from the cgiproxy script, cgiproxy script will rewrite all the links on the websites page to point back threw itself, including links, forms, Javascript, images and everything else. It creates a somewhat seemless browsing experince.
CGIProxy also has many configurable options such removing images, removing cookies, stripping advertisements. According to the creater there is 50 options.

CGIProxy script is written in Perl and requires Apache/Perl with mod_perl to run.
